Today’s your chance to conduct a clash of legendary heroes—one of the most powerful and memorable music tracks from the Star Wars canon is now available in Maestro on Meta Quest. That song is Duel of the Fates, the musical score that lends even more intensity to one of the most climactic lightsaber battles a galaxy far, far away has ever seen.

Duel of the Fates, composed by John Williams, marks the climax of Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menace, when Jedi Master Qui-Gonn Jinn and his Padawan apprentice, Obi-Wan Kenobi, finally confront the villainous Darth Maul. Maestro captures the epic conflict between good and evil at the heart of Episode I, as well as the track’s grand themes of biblical and gothic myth. As you conduct the orchestra, it divides itself into two armies: one angelic, one demonic. You can also wield a conductor’s baton that becomes either an angelic sword or a diabolic spike, so you can choose your side in the conflict.

At the center of it all, though, is your role as the leader of an incredible performance. In Maestro, you are the conductor, using hand-tracking technology to keep time for the orchestra and guide them through the piece. You’ll point to each orchestra session to cue them as they enter and exit, raise or lower a hand to bring up or down the intensity of a section, and stop notes on a dime, all while maintaining tempo in time with icons that flow toward you from the stage.

Doing a good job guiding the orchestra and keeping time racks up points that can help you place on Maestro’s leaderboards, with the audience cheering you and the orchestra on. But flub the rhythm and the crowd will turn, and instead of throwing roses onto the stage, they’ll huck tomatoes. Like the other pieces in Maestro’s music collection, Duel of the Fates includes its own leaderboard, so you can measure how well you conduct this clash of titans in comparison to other players, as well as your Meta friends.

Duel of the Fates is the latest addition to Maestro, joining some other iconic compositions from the world of pop culture. Developer Double Jack previously added two big packs of additional pieces. The five-track Doom Bound bundle includes the main theme from HBO’s Game of Thrones and “The Bridge of Khazad Dum,” which plays during Gandalf’s iconic “You shall not pass!” stand in The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. You can grab another five tracks with the Secret Sorcery bundle, including “Hedwig’s Theme” from the Harry Potter film franchise and “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” from Disney’s Fantasia.

While Duel of the Fates is the latest piece to join Maestro’s roster, it’s not all you can expect to see in Maestro today. The track launches alongside a free update for all Maestro players, which brings the new “Fields of Fate” stage—an apocalyptic arena befitting the fateful battle—and the new “Angels and Demons” orchestra that reflects the eternal struggle between light and darkness. Players can also try Sergei Prokofiev’s “Battle on the Ice,” a new track added to Maestro’s base tracklist that’s perfect to play with the new climactic aesthetic.

You can purchase Duel of the Fates in the Meta Horizon Store right now for $2.99 USD. The new track also includes the transforming angelic and demonic conductor’s baton.

And if you haven’t taken to the conductor’s stand before, you can try your hands at leading the orchestra in Maestro today. It’s available on the Meta Horizon Store for $24.99 USD.
